And just like that, there's no more conflict for Darin King over OCI's proposal to open Fortune's plant in return for shipping out fish unprocessed.
King was moved out of Fisheries and Aquaculture and into the higher profile Justice Department just moments ago in a cabinet shuffle by Premier Kathy Dunderdale.
Coming into King's place in Fisheries is Derrick Dalley, the former Tourism and Business Minister and current MHA for the Isles of Notre Dame.
Wow.
Whirlwind Day.
King got his licks in at the union literally on his way out the door by pasting the FFAW suggesting that sf the deal with OCI falls through and the jobs in Fortune are lost, it will be the union's fault.
On the flipside, FFAW President Earle McCurdy was simultaneously telling the media that the governemnt amkes the decisions, not the union, and that the FFAW is being put in the position of scapegoat on a deal that flies in the face of policies the province has held dear for decades.
Definitely a strange turn of events....
