The North Atlantic Fish and Workboat Show (NAFWS) is little more than a week away (it all happens Nov. 30-Dec. 1, for the record) and I have to say – in all honesty – things are getting exciting and hectic.

Today the official Show Guide is being released TODAY – you can go ahead and check it out HERE

This is a big year for us at The Navigator.

It’s our 15th Anniversary for starters and it happens to coincide with the show.

The show itself is jam packed with exhibitors including everything from marine products to pick-up trucks, publishing and design (that’s us, by the way... Just saying) to boats and all point in between.

Another big thing The Navigator is thrilled to be involved with in partnership with Master Promotions Ltd. is the launch of the Atlantic Canada Marine Industries Hall of Fame. Three members from Newfoundland and Labrador will be inducted into the hall at 2 p.m. on Nov. 30 in three categories: Mariner, Processor and Builder.

The nominations are in, and the selection committee has completed its work. An announcement will be coming VERY soon on who those three people will be.

Later that night, a major reception will take place at Club One, hosted by The Navigator and the TriNav Group in conjunction with Master Promotions Ltd.

If you don’t have a ticket to this thing, you’re going to miss the marquee social event for the industry this year. We’re talking about prize giveaways, food, drinks, and musical performances by two different acts including NL television personality and country artist Sabrina Whyatt, as well as the rock/country quartet Raggedy Band and Andy.

The doors open at 7:30 – so you better get there early.

The fishing and marine industries can be tough businesses in Newfoundland and Labrador and Atlantic Canada as a whole. But the economic activity they create, and the amazing people that make their livings off ocean based resources, are worth acknowledging and certainly celebrating.

We’re going to do that on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.
